JUNIOR SEASON ENDS - FINALS & PRESENTATION DAY - AUGUST 30

The final matches of the Junior Soccer season will be played this Saturday.

U12 & 16 will play finals and the U6-10s will play a round robin.

Presentations will be held at the end of the last match for each age group:

SSG - at 10:30; U9 & 10 at 11:15 and U12 & U16 at 12:30. Players are expected to attend the presentations to receive their trophies from their team coach and manager. Presentations for U12 & 16 will be held at 12:30 at Brick Alley. Presentations for SSG and 9 & 10s will be at Jack Eddy Oval. This week's DRAW

Finals - U16s - Milan will play Barcelona for the championship at 11:15 on Pitch 1. In their last match, Milan overpowered Barcelona 5-2 but Barcelona have had to fight to
make the final and are determined to reverse the score.

U12 - England and Brazil will play for the championship in a fitting end to the season as
they were separated by only one point at the end of the round matches.

All U12 & 16 teams will play a match this week except for Nigeria.

A sausage sizzle will be held during the morning, with each player receiving a free sausage and drink to celebrate the end of the season.

Shepparton Tournament Sept 6th - a reminder that there are still places available in the U12 and U8 teams attending the Shepparton end of season tournament on Sept. 6th. SHEPPARTON JUNIOR TOURNAMENT - SEPTEMBER 6th

The Shepparton Junior Tournament will be held on Sept. 6th - the Saturday after our last junior season finishes. The tournament is organized by the Cobram JSA & Shepparton JSA and is expected to be an annual end of season event.

Teams are listed below in the Events. Under 10 & 12 is nearly full but there are several places in the U8s still available. Please email the club to secure your place.

This is a one day tournament at Shepparton and the last chance to play competitive outdoor soccer this year for these age groups - a good way to end the season. It is expected to be competitive with each team playing 3 matches and then semi-finals and a grand final.

SUMMER LEAGUE - LODDON MALLEE PLAYER NOMINATIONS

All Clubs within the Loddon Mallee Zone (Bendigo, Castlemaine, Kyneton, Echuca-Moama, Swan Hill and Mildura) have been invited to NOMINATE players to be considered for selection in the squads that will compete against the other 11 zones in the FFV Summer League.

Please Note: Players who wish to be considered for ANY STATE TEAM in 2009 will ONLY be selected from the Summer League Zone teams.

SSG SURVEY FOR ALL PARENTS OF SSG PLAYERS

All parents of SSG players are urged to complete the Football Federation Australia SSG Survey to help determine the future development of Small- Sided Games in Australia.

Victorian responses are very low to date compared to other states. This survey will have a significant impact on the future of SSG so if you have any thoughts or opinions you would like to share be sure to do so by completing the survey.

INTERTOWN CHALLENGE CUP GALA DAY RESULTS

Congratulations to all the players for their wonderful efforts today. Moama-Echuca successfully retained the Cup which was accepted by U14 team captains, Fred Gorman and Sam Gugliotti.

Thanks to the team coaches, referees and canteen workers who were kept very busy all day. Special thanks to: Toni Denson (U9), Simon Arkinstall (U8), Brendan Shingles & Kylie Bruns (U10) & Mark Dunston (U12) for organizing teams looking after their age groups. Special thanks to Linda McLean, Sue Teasdale & Deb Pennell who worked in the canteen all day and to the Moama Bowling club for providing volunteers for the canteen and BBQ. Thanks to those that helped with the canteen & BBQ during the day. Special thanks to all referees, Troy McLean who refereed 5 matches, and those who helped out with matches at the last minute.

The 2008 Intertown Challenge Cup was awarded to Moama-Echuca. This Cup is an annual event between Deni and Moama-Echuca and is awarded to the club that wins the most matches overall across all age groups for the day.

FFV recently announced its plans to introduce a new Zone based Summer Competition throughout Victoria.

The initiative falls in line with the new Strategic Plan for football in Victoria and will be introduced in November 2008. The new Summer League has the support of Football Federation Australia, Melbourne Victory and the Professional Footballers Association.

It will represent the best players from all the clubs in each zone. Our zone is the LODDON MALLEE ZONE taking in Sunraysia, Swan Hill, Moama-Echuca & Bendigo Associations. cont...
