MOAMA-ECHUCA PLAYERS SELECTED FOR STATE SQUADS. Eight players from Moama-Echuca have recently been selected for state teams and two players are in the last 25 and hopeful of a place as well. Another 4 players have been selected to represent their region in the Victorian & NSW primary school teams. Tom Leech, Kari Gulson, Tegan Milne, Bridget Powell & Kariah White have been selected to represent Victoria at the U13 Friendship Games in Sydney in July, and Alex Cheal has been named first emergency for the U15 Girls State team. Angus Ferguson has been selected in the Victorian U20 Schoolboys team & Cassie Powell in the U21 Schoolgirls team. Two players have been selected for the Victorian 'Footy Skool' U14 team to play in the USA in July. Another 2 players are in the last 25 and hopeful of selection in the U14 Victorian Boys Country team. Three Moama-Echuca players have also been selected to trial for the VPSSA (Vic. Primary Schools Sports Assoc) Victorian primary schools teams and one for the equivalent NSW team. Congratulations to all four players and best of luck at the regional trials. Zone Development Coordinator, Dave Coward says it is extraordinary that so many players from one club have been selected for state teams in one year. It shows a great deal of dedication from Moama-Echuca players and their families, with constant travel and training, to pursue their dreams of playing at an elite level. Previous state level players from Moama-Echuca are Jocelyn Murdoch who has recently been awarded a soccer scholarship to the US, and has represented both Victoria & NSW in state and schools events; Cassie Powell who captained the U14 Girls state team in 2005, and was a state squad member in 2006 & 2007; and Jesse Cheal who represented Victoria in 2005. With the inspiration of the current group of elite players, Moama-Echuca players can expect to continue to perform well in state selection in future years. Kariah White (V.Capt.)
